Saba stands as a unique special municipality of the Netherlands, renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty and status as a prime diving destination. The island is home to Mount Scenery, the highest point in the Dutch Kingdom, towering at an impressive 877 meters.

Governance and Development

Our Island Government is a model of stability, fostering strong ties with the Netherlands and consistently achieving significant milestones across various sectors. Our team, comprising approximately 180 dedicated employees, collaborates seamlessly to propel Saba’s development forward.

Our Focus: Sustainability and Progress

At the heart of the Saba Island Government’s efforts are self-reliance and sustainable economic growth. Our focus areas include enhancing accessibility, combating poverty, and elevating the quality of life for our community. We are actively engaged in numerous initiatives, such as developing a new harbor, constructing modern educational facilities, promoting our eco-tourism sector, conserving nature, advancing agricultural practices, organizational development, and training and digitalization of services. We embrace the philosophy that our journey of improvement is ongoing, with much more to achieve.

Partnership with the Netherlands

Since transitioning to a special municipality of the Netherlands, certain administrative functions have shifted. The National Office for the Caribbean Netherlands oversees critical services such as taxation, policing, immigration, transport infrastructure, health, education, and social security on behalf of the Dutch Government.
