This year, the Public Entity Saba will host its World Food Day celebration on December 14th, to coincide with the completion of various improvements and new initiatives at the Hydroponics Farm where the event will be held. This year's event will showcase many important projects on Saba which focus on improving sustainability on island and preparing Saba for the future. This will be done through various presentations and a market hosting various booths with locally-made products on sale.

Several projects currently being carried out by the Public Entity Saba maintain the goal of making Saba more self-sufficient. One of the ways in which we can do this is by increasing our food security. Through the Nature and Environmental Policy Plan (NEPP), a solid foundation is given to construct programs for local food security initiatives. With the newly expanded capacity at the Hydroponics Farm, this will then be an opportune moment for the Saban community to gather and view the many initiatives on the island which contribute to local food security.

Event Day Parking Information

The Public Entity Saba is inviting the public to attend the celebration of World Food Day on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the hydroponics farm at Mountain Road. There is limited space for the flow of traffic and parking in the area. The PES will, therefore, provide a shuttle service to and from the event to help ensure accessibility and prevent congestion in the area. The shuttle service will be carried out by Taxi Driver Rodney Swanepoel. The public is encouraged to make use of this service. Please refer to the below schedule for the times of the service provided.

Driving one’s own vehicle to the event is still permitted, however, it is requested that you take some things into consideration when doing so. We encourage the community to engage in carpooling with friends and family members.  Please do not park on the premises or near the entrance of the hydroponics farm. Please do not park in the 2 sections on the side of the road where turning around is possible. Keeping these spots open will help with the flow of traffic. Please park your vehicles along the roadside with enough distance from the hydroponics farm to ensure other vehicles are able to pass through and turn around when needed.
