Register a Death
Requirements:
To register a death, please ensure you have the following:
- Valid Identification: Present a valid Saban identification card or a valid passport of the requester.
- Doctor's Declaration of Death: Provide the doctor's declaration of death (brown and white envelopes, which must remain sealed).
- Deceased's Identification: Submit the identification cards and passport of the deceased (if a Dutch national) for perforation.
- Spouse's Documentation: Provide a birth or marriage certificate of the spouse if not registered at the Civil Registry Department.
- Prosecutor's Office Declaration: Provide a declaration from the Prosecutor's Office for the official release of the corpse in the event of an investigation.
- Government Examiner's Declaration: Provide a declaration from the government-appointed examiner approving the death and the transport of the corpse
- Fees:
- Death Certificate: No charge
- Apostille Stamp: $14.00 USD
Registering a Foreign Death of a Saba Resident
To register a foreign death of a Saba Resident, please either:
- In-Person Submission: Bring the required documents to the Census Office.
- Email Submission: Email the documents of death to the Census Office at censusmail@sabagov.nl.
Note: Once you submit these documents and the process is complete, the Civil Registrar will register the death and permission for burial or cremation. |
Obtaining a Death Certificate
To obtain a death certificate, please ensure you meet the following requirements:
- Present Your ID: Provide a valid form of identification.
- Close Family Member: You must be a close family member, such as a spouse, child, or parent to request a death certificate.
- Other Family Members: For all other family members wishing to request a death certificate, please contact the Census Office at censusmail@sabagov.nl.
- Fee: $14.00 USD
