Welcome to Culture and Identity within the Community Development Department, where we are dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Saba's rich cultural heritage and the enhancement of educational opportunities across the island. Our team, led by the Policy Advisor for Culture and Education, Shaigan Marten, works tirelessly to foster initiatives that celebrate our unique identity and ensure inclusive, accessible learning experiences for all residents. In collaboration with local stakeholders, regional partners, and the Ministry in the Netherlands, we strive to create a thriving environment that honors our traditions and cultural legacy. 

Our Culture Coach, Sharmina Jones plays a pivotal role in this mission by supporting and advising schools and organizations, helping them to develop and strengthen their cultural initiatives. Acting as a guidance partner, the Culture Coach identifies needs, aligns efforts, and provides one-on-one or group consultations. Additionally, the Culture Coach maintains a comprehensive overview of cultural activities and events, compiling them into a regularly updated cultural calendar that is shared with the community.
