PES’s reforestation project receives donation of trees

In December, the Public Entity Saba’s reforestation project received a donation of over 100 local lemon seedlings from island resident Marie Petit.

In addition to the lemon seedlings, some soursop seedlings were collected. The seedlings sprouted up in her garden from the seeds that came from fruit she’d obtained.

The seedlings were collected by the Project Reforestation team, transported to the nursery site and transplanted into pots, where they will be further grown until they are ready for outplanting.

These seedlings will be outplanted in public and other spaces and used to help further increase local food production, which is one of the project’s goals.
