Hurricane Preparedness 

As we approach the most active time of Hurricane season, it's important to remember that hurricanes can often be predicted days in advance, but their precise path and strength can change at the last moment.

Ensure Safety at Home:

  • Complete any necessary repairs to your roof and shutters.
  • Keep your house and garden in good condition, free of loose objects that could cause damage during a hurricane.

Family Emergency Plan:

  • Discuss your household's emergency plan with all members.
  • Explain to children in simple terms what can happen during a hurricane.

Identify Your Shelter Box:

  • Find a small, sturdy room in your house (e.g., bathroom, walk-in closet with a small window and a sturdy door).
  • Remove all glass items and sharp objects from this room.
  • Place a mattress inside if possible for added protection.
