The Water Process
Our Water Purification Process
At Saba Splash, we follow a meticulous multi-step process to ensure the highest quality drinking water for our customers. Here’s how we transform permeate (Reverse Osmosis water) into safe, healthy, and refreshing bottled water:
Step 1: Carbon Filtration
The journey begins with our active carbon filter, which effectively removes impurities and chlorine. Chlorine is added by Aquasab to prevent bacterial growth within the pipeline, but our filtration system ensures it’s eliminated before further processing.
Step 2: Reverse Osmosis (R.O.) Purification
Next, the water passes through our Reverse Osmosis unit, which removes any remaining salts and minerals left behind from the initial purification at Fort Bay. This process creates “Permeate,” a highly purified water devoid of nutrients and minerals. It’s important to note that consuming unmineralized R.O. water can be harmful, so we take additional steps to make it safe and beneficial.
Step 3: UV Sanitation
In this stage, the Permeate undergoes sanitation through Ultra Violet (U.V.) light. The water passes through a UV-encapsulated cylinder, where harmful microorganisms are neutralized, ensuring the water is thoroughly sanitized.
Step 4: Mineral Enrichment
To make the water safe and healthy for consumption, we automatically add essential minerals, specifically calcium and magnesium, as required by Dutch law. This transforms the Permeate into balanced, mineral-rich drinking water.
Step 5: Storage and Ozonation
The mineral-enriched water is then stored in our dedicated tank. Once the desired levels are achieved, we halt the process, and all filters are automatically cleaned. To further ensure the water’s safety, we treat it with ozone, a natural and safe method for eliminating any remaining microorganisms without using harmful chemicals like chlorine.
Final Step: Bottling
In the final stage, our fully automated system fills the sanitized 3- and 5-gallon bottles. The bottles are thoroughly washed and rinsed at 140°F with Pyrene before being filled, capped, and prepared for distribution. Our Triton 160 bottling machine can produce up to 160 filled bottles per hour.
Each batch of water is carefully logged and tagged with a unique batch number and production date. For added safety, we send samples of each batch to an independent laboratory (S.L.S. Sint. Maarten Laboratory Services) for comprehensive testing. These tests cover a range of parameters, including microbiological safety and mineral content. Only after receiving positive results does the batch get released to the public. If any issues arise, the batch is retested, and if necessary, discarded to maintain our high safety standards.
At Saba Splash, your health and satisfaction are our top priorities, and we are committed to delivering only the best. We are your local choice, for a healthier you!
