Pregnancy intake

With the permission of the expectant mother, the Saba Cares Doctor will inform the Youth Health Nurse of the pregnancy.  The Youth Health Nurse will schedule an initial intake interview with the expectant parents.  This meeting is to introduce the expectant parents to the services offered and answer questions.

Prenatal Vaccinations, “The 22-Week Jab”

Pregnant women on Saba are offered the whooping cough vaccine and, if pregnant during flu season, the flu shot.  These vaccinations are discussed during the prenatal visit so that the benefits can be explained and questions answered.

Prenatal home visit

A prenatal home visit with the Youth Health Nurse is offered to provide help and support to expectant parents, with the goal of helping parents get off to the best possible start with their child and the parenting to come.  Parenting sessions with the expectant parents may be included if desired.
